Felix Weisner (known online as Wiesi and formerly Wiesi-Mausland) was a prolific and notable Newgrounds author, who served as the programmer and artist for the Sharks, Powerfox and Castle Cat series. He was the author of almost 50 games, which included Miami Shark, Powerfox, Castle Cat, Speedmaster, Photo King and Poop Dog.

Weisner suddently passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 46. His death was probably one of the most shocking on the site, and Tom Fulp said "NG won't quite be the same without him"[1]

History[]

Weisner joined Newgrounds on June 15, 2002, at age 25, under the nickname of Wiesi-Mausland, and would start submitting flash later that year, and despite publishing both Games and Movies, his games would become the most notable, and would later almost exclusively dedicate to publish these.

On November 10, 2004, Weisner would create his second account: Wiesi. It would start being used in January 2005, when the Powerfox game was published. In 2007, Weisner announced that this account would become his main account[2]. His old account was used infrequently until 2021.

Content[]

Weisner has been mainly known for his games, although he published 13 movies on the Mausland account and 2 on the Wiesi account, which haven't been enough relevant and only 2 of the 15 have won awards. Here is a list of his most notable work:

Games[]

Miami Shark[]

Main article: Miami Shark

Miami Shark is an Action game published on October 7, 2009, based on a fake picture about a shark attacking a British navy diver. The game is strictly linear and lasts around 5 minutes. The player controls a shark, who is near a beach, that wishes to make as much destruction as possible.

The game spawned the Sharks series, which follows the same gameplay, but take place in different locations.

Ultimate Crab Battle[]

Main article: Ultimate Crab Battle

Ultimate Crab Battle is a shooter game, published on February 18, 2009. The game is a dramatic spoof of videogame boss battles, which, even in context, are bombastic and nonsensical. The game settles on the deep sea, in which a epic war is taking place, with the two sides being the Sharks and the Crabs. The player must control Bobbeh, a shark with a boy companion, who fights the evil Giant King Crab and his minions.

Photo King[]

Main article: Photo King

Photo King is a game that spoofs the Nintendo Wii. The game uses the mouse as a controller, and parodies the Wii's motion technology, by tickling off characters to make them look happy and taking a photo of them.

Legacy[]

Wiesi was revealed to have passed away on November 23rd, 2023 by Tom Fulp in a forum post.[1]

In the wake of his passing, various pieces of fanart depicting Castle Cat: one of his most prominent characters, were produced. A wall banner featuring the character was published following his death.[3]
