And now for something completely different.

Hey stop uploading this to youtube you idiots, it kinda ruins the joke and it's only meant to be on Newgrounds.)

Splash Attack is a Pokemon parody movie made by Sirschmoopy.

Splash Attack tells the tale of two trainers, Red and Blue, who are having a Pokemon battle at the Pokemon League. Each of them fight using a type of Pokemon call Magikarp, which only knows one attack: Splash. The problem is, Splash attack is completely ineffective. The movie therefore never ends, and the two trainers can theoretically fight forever, randomly saying one of several lines. Even when they start to change Pokemon, they either choose another Magikarp, which is virtually identical to the previous one, or Ditto, a Pokemon that transforms into a clone of their opponent, in this case, Magikarp.

Splash Attack uses simple sprites and movements.

Splash Attack uses sprites and backgrounds from the GameBoy Advance game Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen. Visually, the movie is fairly unimpressive, due in large part to the repetition involved in the movie and the scarcity of animation in Pokemon games. The standout element of the movie is the sound. The music is directly taken from the game's battle theme. The voice acting, however, is completely original, and is essential to the humor.

Despite not winning any awards, Splash Attack has become one of the most popular Pokemon parodies on Newgrounds. As of January 2012, it has over 1.3 million views and an average review of 9.0/10. It is also featured in the Flash Portal History and Pokemon collections. He is also semi-famous for his Unforgotten Realms flashes.

  • In the case of an actual battle, the combatants would eventually run out of PP, or the ability to use Splash, forcing them to use Struggle, a damaging attack. Therefore, the video sacrifices a small amount of accuracy for humor.
