| Drive back evil robotic versions of several NG characters as your own NG icon. Stylishly dance through them as Cassette Girl, shoot them with Hank's personal arsenal, unleash Girlfriend's inner demon, and so much more in this tough-as-nails action game.
What started as a simple character update to our 2020 Pico Day submission evolved into several massive updates. One new character became two, and then two eventually became six with revamped gameplay, assists, vehicles, and enemies. All of this is done as a loving tribute to Newgrounds. There's still so much more we can represent. | |

Rushdown Rivals is a fighting game originally released by Spagato and his team for Pico Day 2021, with an updated version released on November 8th 2022. It features nine main Newgrounds characters in brawler like fighting game where you can beat evil robotic versions of famous and well-known Newgrounds characters.
Development[]
Much like other popular Newgrounds games like Newgrounds Rumble and MADNESS: Project Nexus, Rushdown Rivals was massive project of a well known Newgrounds icons in recent years. The idea for the game started during the making of MonkeyBusiness in 2020 when Spagato and KeithGarces thinking about the idea of making a game for Pico Day. Given they already made a fighting platform game, they decided to run with that idea, but due to many abundance of Smash-like fighting games they had think of a new idea that could be stand out from the crowd. The solution is to make fighting in closes space with other players and turn it into a more co-op experience. The demo for the game is released on May the 1st 2021, just in time for the Pico Day, and it was a hit among users, that the team decided commit for a full game. At first, it was supposed a small update with only 2nd character to be planned, which were revealed to be Cassette Girl on May 20th 2021. Even after the full game has released on November 8th 2022, the game was continuously being update with first one being a Mindchamber's character Alloy, that was announced on March 17th 2023, and the second being ENA.
In a wake of the controversy surrounding the creator of Cassette Girl SoftDon, which has came to public light on 28th of July 2023, there has been discussion on a Discord server about the character, and whenever if they want to removed her. But fear that their work might go to waste, Keith proposed to replaced her with a different character that is similar to Cassette Girl. With one example being having a Frog Princess from Stress Quest.
