Piconjo, the "god of teh pr0tal", is a well known user and character on Newgrounds. He has submitted well over 200 flash animations, many of a low quality, as well as seven audio submissions. Most notable is the "Wadolf Saga," in which he depicts Newgrounds as a fascist nation ruled by a Hitleresque Wade Fulp. He was something of a rebel, and has often criticized Newgrounds and other users, including LegendaryFrog, illwillpress, and David Firth. However, there are a few, such as LiveCorpse, who have been paid tribute to in several flashes. He also seems to be a fan of Square Enix, which he makes frequent references to. He has also made references to Pixar, which he claims to work for.
Although Piconjo was famous in a way, with 248 Flash submissions in his name, relatively few of his movies have won awards. He has won a total of six awards, including Daily Second Place, Underdog, Turd of the Week, and Review Crew Pick. He also has seven audio submissions, which fell into a variety of genres.
2004 Era
He had been mostly inactive since 2005, and only submitted seventeen flash movies (all of them collaborated) before his return in 2021. In PICONJO CONFESSION XI, he announced that he had a kidney disease, and might die soon. In a BBS post from from June 6, 2005, Piconjo stated that he would be getting a double kidney transplant. [2] According to one film he supposedly collaborated on, "Rest in Peace Piconjo," he died on July 12, 2005, after a failed kidney operation.[3] In the comment section of this submission it's claimed by the collab partner that Piconjo was never a real person. They stopped around 2008 due to them getting bored (and someone losing the password to the account.)
He is seen by most as an avatar for trolls, made to poke fun at popular users on Newgrounds, supporting this theory are the sheer variety in the quality of his submissions and amount of collaborations he has created.
Post-2021 Era
Piconjo made a sudden return to Newgrounds on May 1st, 2021 (Pico Day) in a BBS discussion created about him by user FuzzyFoe, and claimed he had been "trapped in teh gh3ytrix for 1337 y3arz fighting an endlezz army of gh3y toadi3s"[sic].
Upon his return, he began to upload new content, amongst them 7 art submissions and a few collaborations. In his first movie submission after reappearing, PICONJO PWNS J00, he announced that 6.9.2021 would become "Piconjo Day", a collaborative event.
With his return, Piconjo brought with him a handful of his former collaborators, such as GreatAnimatorOnizuka and TommySSB, and began planning several collaborations in a Discord server hosted by RebeccaDoodles.
Some users were extremely skeptical of Piconjo's return, believing that he had been indeed died in a kidney transplant. Some went as far as to claim that, due to some of his recent actions differing from that of the 2004-era Piconjo, the account may be operated by a different user.
The Character
Piconjo's design fluctuates regularly between his submissions due to the character's collaborative nature.
The Mindchamber Design
Most are probably aware of Piconjo through Newgrounds Rumble, a project created seperately from The Piconjoers and Piconjo himself. Piconjo himself, in fact, has been very critical of this design, claiming it to be disgusting.
In Newgrounds Rumble, he is depicted as a lanky doppleganger to Newgrounds' iconic Pico, using a large Final Fantasy-esque sword to attack. He is known for wearing purple in Newgrounds Rumble, and carrying a shotgun.
Piconjo's Designs
The character of Piconjo typically is of a rather muscular build with pale skin, red hair and circular white eyes. His eyes are occasionally red when he is shown to be angered, and some animations give him green pupils. His large penis is often shown in his animations.
His first name, Oliver, derives from a now-removed animation, "Piconjo: A Night in NYC" in which he introduces himself as Oliver.
His arsonal within Piconjo's own animations consists of a large sword, an extremely large penis which often morphs into a dragon, and several demonic powers.
Behind the Scenes
The true identity of Piconjo has never accurately been deduced. Though it is commonly asserted the account is shared by a large group, the account's operators are largely unknown. According to a few people close to Piconjo, such as AlgaeGhost, it is indeed run by one of the same people from 2004.
Speculation abounds about the account's current operator, with theories on its operation ranging from older users like SickDeathFiend, to more recent users like ProsciuttoMan.
It was said by AlgaeGhost in a direct message shown by YouTuber spete that though Piconjo once targeted LegendaryFrog, his current subject of mockery is the fandom culture of Friday Night Funkin'.
