The Newgrounds Police Department, or the NGPD, is a club on the Newgrounds BBS who continue to serve the portal after four years. They were started during the November of 2005, under the name 'NG Police Headquarters' and are going strong today. It's founder, and first commissioner (which is a title for leader that was created quite a long time after the thread was created) was MrCrawford. The original thread was very short; and it didn't lay down much of the guidelines and requirements that the crew has today. In 2008 TailsPrower, the current Commissioner, created the Newgrounds Police Department thread that we use today.
The NGPD currently stand at twenty-five members, twenty-four of which are between Police Officer and Police Captain; one, Dejanus, is a Security Guard.
The Aims
The Newgrounds Police Department aim to be a place for people who are between the Security Guard and Police Captain Blam and Protect Ranks to lounge around and discuss the portal and just about anything. To avoid letting users who will bring the general attitude down, you have to pass a post quality inspection from one of the three leaders mentioned underneath. As well as talking about the Flash Portal, users link to submissions that break the portal guidelines, so others can help bring administrators' attention towards them; therefore making the portal a safer and more pleasant place.
Appointed Officers
The Newgrounds Police Department is heavily influenced by the members, though, like any club, there needs to be members to take voluntary positions that keep the club moving. In the NGPD, these members try to keep order, manage the memberlist and decide whether members are allowed into the club, amongst other things. The following members are those in charge:
- TailsPrower - Commissioner:
- As the Commissioner, TailsPrower has more power over the crew than anyone else, so he can decide who takes the other positions as leader, as well as remove any member from the list.
- SpiffyMasta - Unit Ops
- As the Unit of Operations (which is, effectively, a term for second-in-command), SpiffyMasta does similar tasks to TailsPrower, though he does not have power over the leadership.
- Gu-rrilla - Asst. Chief
- The Assistant Chief of the department, Gu-rrilla, helps Mike and Tails out with recruitment, and decides whether a user is accepted or denied a place in the department if they're not around.
