The Monthly Portal Awards are voted on from the Weekly Users' Choice submissions, plus the submissions from the Front Page that month. They are put forward to a monthly vote by the top 2,000 experienced Users on Newgrounds. This award is one of the highest on Newgrounds.
Prizes[]
The makers of the top five movies and top five games receive a prize, currently $100. The highest-ranked movie based on original material (ie. doesn't use existing characters + settings from other peoples' work) receives an additional $200. (this was previously $30 store credit, with a $250 prize for 1st place)
Projects created or organized by staff (eg. those by Tom Fulp, JohnnyUtah, PsychoGoldfish, etc.) are passed down to the 6th place runner-up. Furthermore, some authors have requested to pass their winnings down as well.[1]

Unlike the Daily and Weekly Awards, Monthly Awards are announced by Tom Fulp on the front page. From 2007 to 2012, the winning movie and game for each month were featured as a nominee for the Tank Awards.
On September 11, 2024, submissions up to February 2005 were retroactively given a Best of the Month trophy, following an update to the monthly voting system. Prior to that date, Monthly Awards did not appear on the submission's page.
