Metal Gear Funnies is a collaboration hosted by Bug (formely BigArmyBug), based on the Metal Gear franchise and released on the same day as the MGS Flash Collab. It is a satirical take on both the Metal Gear Solid franchise as well as making fun of video game parodies in general.
It was deleted in 2014 by Bug along with all of his other submissions, before deleting his account in 2019. Sometime in late June of 2023, Metal Gear Funnies was restored to the Portal with CoolDrMoney as the new lead author.
Background[]
Following the announcement of an official NG Metal Gear collab, Bug started an alternate collab on TheBackAlleys. He states the reason he started it is "to get a rise out of people"[1].
The original plan was to submit the collab anonymously under a "thebackalleys" NG account, around the same time as the original MGS collab, though it would eventually release under Bug's own account.
Structure[]
The collab opens to a set of curtains, opening up to reveal the menu while the title music to SMB2 plays. "WHAT?" opens up a the credits, along with a blurb.
"This hilarious Metal Gear humorous joke collection was organized by the very talented and often comical mastermind, bug. This incredible piece of art was constructed by the kooky kids listed on the right. For months they honed their skills to bring this Metal Gear extravaganza to your fingertips."
There are 27 individual scenes, which can be rewinded or skipped via a small set of arrows on the bottom right corner.

Reception[]
Metal Gear Funnies was met with polarizing reception. At one point it had a score of 1.8 / 5. A significant proportion of viewers criticized the collab for its low quality jokes and animation quality, while the rest of the NG community heavily praised it for satirizing bad video game parodies.
It was voted the 2nd best movie of July 2008, losing only to the MGS Flash Collab. Since MGS was a staff project, MGF was nominated for the 2008 Tank Awards.
