Gappy is the protagonist of the Gappy series by LeviRamirez, a series of platformer games. He is a green, square character with features similar to Kirby from the Kirby series who inhabits a land known as "Cointopia".
In multiple interviews, LeviRamirez has claimed that Gappy originated as "a Kirby OC" who he would often draw in comics as a child.[citation needed]
Series[]
The Gappy series consists of four games: Gappy, Gappy 2, Gappy 3, and Gappy's Playground. While the first three games are auto-runner platformers, Playground implements platforming maneuvers typically seen in 3D games into a 2D platformer.
There have also been two games created by AmphibianOblivion: GAPPY & THE RED EYESORE, and Gappy's Labyrinth. While Red Eyesore mimics the style of Gappy's playground, Labyrinth is a metroidvania game.
Character[]
Gappy is a square, green character with a love for money and music. He loves music so much in fact, that the plot of Gappy 2 centers on Gappy's efforts to rescue a casette tape that is stolen from him.
He has arms and legs attached to his large head, similar to Kirby.
LeviRamirez claimed that the similarities to Kirby were not coincidental, as the character was created as a "Kirby OC" that he would often draw hanging out with Kirby in comics he made when he was young.[citation needed]
