I have an idea for a warning system to use for rule violations. If someone breaks a rule, their warning level goes up and they get the penalty that goes with the level. Here is how the warning levels would go:

  • Level 0-Given to users who show no threat. May only given if never warned before and has been on Wikigrounds for at least a month. Also given to admins.
  • Level 1-All users start here. Lowest level for those who have been warned before.
  • Level 2-First warning. Message placed on user talk page, usually {{finalwarning}}.
  • Level 3-Banned for 1-5 days
  • Level 4-Banned for 10-20 days
  • Level 5-Banned for 30 days or more
  • Level 6-Permanent ban

Someone's warning level would go down after a while if they are good, but a warning level my go up by more than one if they break a larger rule. The warning level would be shown an a user's talk page, and if they alter their own level, it automatically goes up to 5.

I don't see how this would really help, as we could just as easily look at their talk page for warnings or commendations and warn, block, or comment accordingly. Also, there seems to be too steep a rise in badness (for lack of a better word) between Level 1 and 2. --Machchunk2 05:09, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
This might be useful if we want to establish levels of warning between ourselves- Jsut a matter of defining the terms for our own conversations. How would you prefer to put the difference between 1 and 2?
