The Experience Level, also known simply as Level, is generally held to be the most important stat of Newgrounds users. It is determined by the number of experience points a user has. You can increase your level by voting on up to five submissions per day, which gives you a maximum of 10 experience points. Each level earned increases the weight of the user's vote.
Experience Points/Grounds Gold[]
Experience Points (XP) are the points that a user gains by voting on submissions. They had been known as Grounds Gold until the 2007 Redesign, when the name was changed to Experience Points, that being a term familiar to many video gamers from RPG's. The term Grounds Gold is used for the currency in Newgrounds Rumble. A user can only earn up to 10 points per day and that day, which begins at midnight Eastern Standard time (UTC - 5) and resets the count, is still known as a Grounds Gold Day. Since a 2018 redesign, TomFulp may increase the daily XP limit at his discretion, and has advertised double and triple XP days via news posts.
History[]
The Experience Levels have been on the site for years. Like many things, they were adjusted in the 2007 Redesign, making more levels and raising the bar so that there was a higher ceiling. The current top level was reached by Pimp in 2010. The current system, allowing experience points on just one submission, was set at the 2018 Redesign[1]
Earning XP[]
To earn XP, a user can vote in any of the site content areas (Games, Movies, Art, Audio). By clicking on the stars under the Author Comments of a submission, the user will automatically deposit 2XP (up to 10 max per day). The expression of the tankman changes to reflect the score.
System[]
The level of a user represents their voting power. The amount of experience points determines their voting power, and showing a different level icon for each milestone:

New System[]
The 2012 redesign of the site changed the level icons to their current iteration (left), but did not change the XP requirements per level.
